Since moving to Kansas City I have been a part of Meghan’s career with the Lawrence Humane Society. It’s just a supporting role, but the view I get into LHS and its staff, animals, and patrons is a special one. I have a more personal window into the successes and struggles of the organization than the typical visitor. This opportunity that LHS is creating for itself, to upgrade their campus with a new facility, is a major step in relieving many of those struggles and increasing the successes. While LHS has created this opportunity it relies heavily, as always, on the support of the public to share in and realize their vision. I see the good that LHS does for its community and I share their vision for an improved campus and an improved organization. I believe strongly enough in this effort that I am committing to a fundraising goal of $1000 towards their campaign.

Every pet deserves a happy, healthy life. For more than 3,800 lost and homeless animals in our community each year, that chance begins at the Lawrence Humane Society.

The Lawrence Humane Society is a critically-needed local resource for Douglas County and Lawrence, but is being held back by limitations of an aging, inadequate, and failing facility that is long overdue for replacement. By building a new, state-of-the-art shelter facility, the benefits to both pets and people are clear: more lives will be saved; the number of homeless and abandoned animals will be reduced; and most importantly, families will be strengthened -- by having the space to find the right home for every pet, and by helping keep pets and people together for the long-haul.

We need the community's help to make this project a reality.
